‘Millet cover sown into old Lucerne pastures provides cows a nice variety

Working up some dirt in hope!

Again the promise of rain—but you guessed it— hope someone is getting it!

The boys!

Rick and Carmel’s donkey—’Ollie’!

Lack of rain and reduced bore allocation means we have to dry off some almost 2/3rds of the farm.

We cover sowed millet in the hope of least an inch through summer—no rain so far…..

The calves with their moms are looking at me saying ‘where’s the feed!’

‘Pony Paddock’ has been a real winner this season from such poor dirt, we are well on track to get ten tons a hectare. This was just nut grass and dock weed for years and then we put it on the BioAg program and power harrowed it, sowed Dairy Hi Pro mix from Landmark—and voila!

2.5 hectares approx.

28 Silage wraps 4 x 4

380 small squares

3 weeks grazing rotations cows and calves

2 weeks grazing rotations steers

Our infamous fat steer negotiates the electric fence and get his reward whilst ‘the boys’ look on.

Another HOT Australian Summer—we have had what seems like weeks of high humidity and plus 35 degree Celsius temperatures—no rain!

Calves up to no good in the Lucerne (just cut—2nd cut provided 64 silage wraps of just over ten hectares

‘Zack’ the dog is always on the look out for a bunny — but never catches them, when he finds them.

One  day!!

We’ll get him next time ‘Zacky’ boy!
